DL Tip of the Week - Early Bird Welcome

We have decided to try something new this year at HCTC: DL Tip of the Week, each week we will post a tip about something you can do in your online class. All online faculty will be emailed the tip and it will be posted on our blog.

This week’s tip is about creating an Early Bird Welcome. An Early Bird Welcome can allow you to make your class available in advance to let students know some of things that will be in the class. You can share the textbook and how to order the textbook, and more. Additionally, we will link to a handout and video how to. These are stored behind the Blackboard server, so you will have to type in your username and p@ssword.

KCTCS Teaching & Learning Mini Conference

Faculty and Staff –

Don't miss this opportunity! It is a rare opportunity for use to have this training right in our backyard.

The first Mini-Conference in Madisonville was a huge success! And the Bluegrass location is at capacity.

But, you can still register for the Hazard location through 6 p.m. (eastern) tomorrow, Aug. 7.

Whether you teach online, on-campus, or a combination, you are sure to find sessions that will spark creative ideas for your courses.

The 4 Teaching and Learning tracks are:

Enhancing your Existing Course - sessions in this track include tools, technology and ideas to spice up your current course

Assessments - these sessions will give you ideas and tools for improving course assessments and managing grading tools such as rubrics and online grade centers

A la Carte - this track has a variety of topics to help you manage your courses, use engaging content and go further with web 2.0 and social tools

The event is free for all KCTCS faculty and staff, but you will need to get approval from your local college for travel reimbursement.
